Review of the 30-day yoga challenge 'MOVE' by Yoga with Adriene

Updated: Feb 9, 2023

"Movement is how we engage with life...so how you move matters."

MOVE is another free 30-day journey by 'Yoga with Adriene'. Every day a YouTube-video got uploaded with the daily practice. I've done two other journeys before and again loved this one a lot. It was the perfect start into the year. She makes it easy and fun to get into the flow (literally). Every day has a different theme and over time the pace increases, but it's always accompanied by encouragement, fun and technique tips to strengthen or adjust the foundation.

“Arriving to the mat to begin is the hardest part.”

Along with her cute dog Benji she teaches yoga for everyone. Whether you are a beginner or already a yogi, this journey is suitable for everyone. The practices are easy to follow no matter the experience level. If poses do get too challenging other variations and encouragement to continue is always given.

The emphasize of the classes are not to perfectly hit a pose, but instead cultivating a mind-body-connection. 'Find what feels good' is her motto and mindful breathing techniques, stretching for body-healing and pain relief are the focus.

With her ease and encouragement the sessions always feel light. They are not necessarily easy. But her wit, charm and playfulness make it a delight and creates this feeling of a safe place. Yes, you are doing this probably in the safety of your own home where no-one might see or judge you. But I for myself am my biggest critic. Therefore not being able to perfectly perform a pose used to feel discouraging. That's why it's amazing that she encourages you to take these practices with your own pace and steps. When giving instructions for a pose, Adriene sometimes uses the phrase 'whatever that means to you' to encourage you to listen to your body today. Find your variation of it, that feels good to you.

Failing to get into or holding a poste doesn't make you feel bad during these courses. You even might see her here and there loosing balance, missing a word or starting to sing a song that came to her mind. She laughs and then just refocuses. That feels refreshing too me. Other yoga tutorials I tested never showed the bloopers. I mean, this is about practice and fun and not perfect. We are all human.

The yoga classes truly are a joy for your body, mind and soul. They always make me feel good and I'm looking forward to the next one.

As I've followed her for years now, I recommend her yoga classes 100%.
